PROCESS FOR CREATING A PANOGRAPHY
1. Choose subject.
2. Take at least 8 photos of your subject from wide, medium, close-up, vertical, etc. Think of this as a puzzle. You are taking pictures of your subject in pieces that you will later put together into a final image. MAKE SURE YOUR PICTURES OVERLAP WITH ONE ANOTHER.
3. Open your photos in Photoshop and make a collage.

HINT: Go to FILE > NEW and make your image 4,000 pixels wide by 3,000 pixels high and a resolution of 300. Open your photos and SELECT ALL > EDIT COPY and EDIT PASTE them into your new file. Free transform to resize your image. Color your background with the paint bucket.

Portfolio 6: Product Advertising

Your next assignment for Portfolio 6 is to pick a product and create an advertisement from scratch using Photoshop. Pretend you are creating an ad for a magazine. You will be creating a full page advertisement with dimensions of 7.5 inches (width) by 9.3 inches (height) and a resolution of 300. YOU MUST HAVE A MINIMUM OF 6 LAYERS. You must save your final ad as both a photoshop file (.psd) and a jpeg (for your powerpoint). Email the .psd file to me.

To create a new file, click file and new, then type in the dimensions. Make sure the resolution is 300. Also make sure the images you choose are large enough that they don't pixelate. Create an ad for any project.

Portfolio 6: Comic Strip Narrative

COMIC STRIP NARRATIVE

Tell a story in photographs and arrange it in a comic strip like series. Your series will consist of 6 or more descriptive photographs to tell your story (see required length below). Use thought bubbles and narrative description boxes only to clarify your ideas and the actions and thoughts of the characters. Use real people, not dolls or action figures, but you can use inanimate objects as your subject i.e. "the day in the life of an apple." Be descriptive with your imagery - your photos should tell most of the story.

Use the retro comic book effect tutorial to give your photos the "comic book look." Make sure to use the stroke layer to add a border to each photo as well.

Required Length: (does not include your title slide)

2 person group = 8 slides
3 person group = 10 slides
4 person group = 12 slides

Portfolio 3: Creating Movement Tutorial

HINTS:
 Step 1: Lasso the car and hit control J, go back to background layer and blur
Step 2: Select wheels and blur
Step 3. Go to layer, new layer and change to pin light. Check your colors to make sure they are correct and use the paint bucket underneath the gradient tool to paint your layer black. Then go to filter, render clouds. Erase the clouds you don't need using the eraser tool.

Portfolio 2: Blur Filter Gallery

Your first assignment for portfolio 2 is to use the blur filter gallery in photoshop to create an image with a shallow depth of field.

1. Open an image from the internet or a photo you have taken with a lot of depth of field (meaning that most of the image is in focus)
2. Open the image in photoshop.
3. Go to FILTER-BLUR and choose FIELD BLUR, IRIS BLUR or TILT SHIFT.
4. Save the result and post a before and after to portfolio 2.

Optimizing Images with Photohop


Use Adobe Photoshop to optimize this image.
Instructions: Click on the photo to enlarge it, right click and save the image to your desktop, then FILE - OPEN to open the image in Photoshop.

Then do one or both of the following:
1. Go to IMAGE - AUTO COLOR, TONE, CONTRAST
2. Also try IMAGE - ADJUSTMENTS (then vibrance, saturation, etc)

Using Photoshop to Optimize, Resize and Crop Images

Steps to prepare your image for your portfolio.

1. Open your image in Adobe Photoshop CS6
2. Go to IMAGE, AUTO CONTRAST, AUTO TONE, AUTO COLOR (EDIT, UNDO if you don't like the result)
3. Crop your image if necessary (choose the crop tool and drag the corner of the image, press enter)
4. Adjust the size of your image by going to IMAGE, IMAGE SIZE, enter 1500 for the width and press OK.
5. Click FILE, SAVE AS and give your image a unique name. Click SAVE and maximize the image quality and click OK. Make sure the image is a jpeg.
6. Upload your optimized image to google drive and add to your portfolio.

Portfolio 1 Requirements for Rule of Thirds Photo

For your first portfolio, you should have the following:

1. Slide with "Portfolio 1" and your name below it. (remember to rename your presentation to Portfolio 1 in the top left corner)
2. The next slide should be your definition of rule of thirds (what does rule of thirds mean to you in your own words)
3. Three slides with examples from the internet (make sure to include a link to the picture and state why you think the picture is a rule of thirds photo) - insert a link to the picture by clicking the picture and going to insert link, then copy and paste the link into the box
4. Two slides with your own photos.

A rubric is an assessment tool for communicating expectations of quality. Rubrics support student self-reflection and self-assessment as well as communication between assessor and assessees. A rubric is a set of criteria and standards typically linked to learning objectives that is used to assess or communicate about product, performance, or process tasks.
